John Coorey
Every successful team needs a great point guard to keep the team focused on achieving victory. At Serafin & Associates, Inc., the point guard carrying the client to victory often is John Coorey.
Whether spearheading development of a statewide grassroots organization for individuals with developmental disabilities or managing community outreach for major corporations operating in Illinois, John excels at helping clients develop - and keep focused on - strategies for successful communications.
From event promotion and coordination to media and community relations, John has a proven record of helping Serafin clients accomplish their community and media relations goals.
His ability to understand our clients' needs have led to successes such as the creation of a major campaign to raise awareness of the needs of persons with developmental disabilities. He also was part of a successful effort to educate a residential community about an aggregate materials company’s charitable contributions to neighbors.
John joined the firm as an intern, working his way up to junior account executive after only four months on the job.
"I can relate to our clients and really work with them," he says. "It almost becomes like a friendship relationship."
The Cincinnati native was a Charles "Chick" Evans scholar with a double major at Ohio State University, entitling him to a full tuition and housing scholarship. The scholarship, named after an amateur golfer of the early 20th century, is given to 'exceptional' young people who are dedicated golf caddies.
After graduating from Ohio State in 2003 with degrees in marketing and logistics, John served as Special Projects Coordinator for a continuing education program at Ohio's Office of the Treasurer. He helped organize seminars mandatory for groups investing state money. He also created marketing brochures, maintained the cost budget and organized conferences attended by over 1,000 government officials. While in Ohio, John also earned experience working with grassroots efforts during a state representative campaign.
John is a diehard Buckeyes fan, traveling each season to one or two away games. John enjoys playing softball, racquetball and traveling.
